Sexton Ranches Natural Lamb & Beef

Sexton Ranch is a family run ranch raising both natural lamb and beef.  Our practices include rotational grazing, no use of hormones, no antibiotics, and the use of natural products for herd health whenever possible.  We feel we have something special that should be shared with consumers.  We know it is hard for you to purchase local lamb, and even harder for you to purchase a naturally raised product.  We care about the meat you eat and want you to know where your product is coming from, how it was raised, and who raised it!  We are true believers in country of origin labeling, and encourage you to buy food born, raised and fed in the USA.

Grande Ronde Cattle Co.

Located near the Grande Ronde River on the Oregon/Washington border, we raise premium quality grass-fed, natural Black Angus beef.  We finish our steers on a grass/alfalfa mix and utilize rotational grazing to ensure a consistent supply of fresh and nutritious feed.  This method, combined with our herd genetics and nutrition tests shows less than 3% total fat and an omega 6 to omega 3 ratio of 1:1.  All animals are treated humanely and never in confinement.  USDA inspected beef is sold by the pound year-round.  Our bulk beef is available in limited quantities in late fall in split quarters, halves or wholes.  All beef is aged for 21 days and cut and wrapped to your specifications at our trusted local processor.

Little Creek Lambs is located in the Grande Ronde Valley just a stones throw from the historic Hot Lake Hotel. We primarily raise Texel sheep for breeding stock as well as producing all natural grass fed lamb in the fall. Email us for availability. We also have a busy chicken coop with anywhere from 20-30 laying hens. Our hens are raised the old fashioned way; lots of sun, garden greens and any unlucky bug that finds its way into the chicken run. Eggs are usually available year round. This year we have introduced an all natural, wool filled pet bed as well as fleeces for hand spinning. Visit our website for all the details on our fleece products. www.oregontexels.com or email us with any questions you may have aynn@oregontexels.com

View Article  Fluit Family Farms

Fluit Family Farms is a small family farm located in the beautiful Wallowa Mountain Valley in Northeast Oregon. We irrigate in the dry season from a small creek flowing from the mountains. We have been doing soil test annually and add natural mined minerals accordingly. We have never used herbicides or pesticides on our farm. We are in the process of being organic certified. We have been making compost from our livestock's winter bedding pack which we add to the fields for fertilizer. It sure attracts a lot of earth worms!

We raise Natural Grass-fed beef, free range eggs, fresh raw milk from grass-fed Jersey cows, and pork. Our livestock do not receive any hormones or antibiotics. Our cows get a fresh salad bar of grass every day in the summer. They also get free choice Organic Thorvin Kelp and Redmond natural salt for additional minerals. Our cattle are born and raised here and never fed grain.

Our beef, eggs, and fresh milk are available year around as long as we aren't sold out. Our pork is available in late Summer and Fall.

You can purchase our products direct from the farm, off the internet, or at local farmers markets. The farmers markets we are attending are Joseph, Pendleton, LaGrande, and Pasco.

We currently rent our land from Bill and Dan Dagget about a mile east of Joseph, OR. The Dagget farm has been sustainably run since the family started farming in the 1940's. It is now certified organic by Oregon Tilth. We raise mostly root crops. Mainly Potatoes, Carrots, Parsnips, Beets. We also have a small amount of asparagus, garlic, zucchini, beans, tomatoes, radishes, raspberries, apples. We concentrate on raising several varieties of the root crops for color and flavor.

The majority of our crops are available during the fall, winter, and spring of the year. We hope to fill in the summer with some beans, zucchini radishes etc.

Our product is sold at the Portland Saturday Farmers market, and in over 40 high end restaurants in Portland and Hood River. We also sell to the Wild Flour Bakery, and Old Town Cafe. Anyone wishing our product, if a business, can ask for delivery. We are hoping to have a central point in the county with other growers for individual purchases. Our problem is that we can barely keep our Portland customers in the food they want. But we really try to supply the people of Wallowa County when we can. Sometimes they come out to the packing shed when they want to purchase something. We are happy to sell potato seed for gardens in the spring.
